Kate Bingham added that although 25 virus families have been found by scientists, there may be more than one million undiscovered varieties.

According to a UK health specialist, Disease X, as the World Health Organization (WHO) has named it,

potentially start another, more deadly pandemic than COVID-19. Kate Bingham, who presided over the UK's Vaccine Taskforce from May to December 2020, spoke with Daily Mail in an interview.

WHO claims that Disease X may be a novel agent, such as a virus, bacterium, or fungus, for which there are no known treatments.

Ms. Bingham answered, "Let me put it this way: the 1918-19 flu pandemic killed at least 50 million people worldwide," in response to her fear.

more than twice as many as died in World War I. A similar mortality toll from one of the numerous viruses that already exist today is possible.

If Disease X becomes a global concern, "the world will need to get ready for massive vaccination drives and deliver the doses in record time."

The expert added that although 25 virus families have been identified by experts, there may yet be more than one million undiscovered varieties.

It might be able to switch between species.
