On Thursday morning, the location of the sale of a historic lottery ticket was made public.

It turns out that Toronto was where the record-breaking Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball jackpot was purchased.

For the first time ever, according to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), the jackpot hit $68 million.

Tony Bitonti, a spokesman for the OLG, stated early on Thursday morning, "Now we wait for the winner or winners to come forward.

Since LOTTO 6/49 made adjustments to the game a year ago, this is the first time the reward has reached the full $68 million jackpot with only one gold ball remaining in the drawing.

A total of four $100,000 each Encore prizes were sold in Sarnia, Windsor, Toronto, and on OLG.ca.

The winning Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball ticket for the record-breaking $68 million prize, according to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp., was purchased somewhere in Toronto.

Additionally, $100,000 worth of encore tickets were sold on OLG.ca, in Toronto, Sarnia, and Windsor.

The most recent $42 million gold ball ticket was purchased by a lucky player in Niagara Falls in June. It hasn't been claimed yet.
